Sunday 12 February RNW - NEWS AND ANALYSIS FROM THE NETHERLANDS IN 10 LANGUAGES, WORLDWIDE 24/7 ON RADIO, TV AND ONLINE
Anonymous 31 December 2009 - 9:48pm / US

Great points except A. Our current president's predecessor was elected with both the popular and electoral college votes in 2004. In 2000 he was elected only with the majority of electoral college votes (despite his opponent being the first to take the issue to the Judicial).

If we ignored the electoral college and had Al Gore as president in 2000, we'd still end up with a Liberal Social Democrat elected by a majority.

One last point; to all those who claim this administration inherited a miserable system of national security: I will not disagree, but remember that the 2000 administration also inherited a miserable system of national security from a prior administration that also mishandled intelligence.
