Paris museum re-opens after strike

Published on 6 December 2009 - 3:19pm
More about:

Paris' Musée d'Orsay has reopened after a four-day work stoppage. Several tourist attractions in the French capital closed their doors this week after personnel went on strike.

The tourist attrations closed by the industrial action included the Palace of Versailles, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou.

On Friday, the Louvre reopened but some personnel refused to return to work. On Saturday, workers at the Palace of Versailles and the Arc de Triomphe went back to work. The Centre Pompidou is still closed. Unions are demanding job security, but the government says it intends to cut a number of posts at the museums.
