DSB victims can apply for social security

Published on 20 October 2009 - 6:29pm
More about:

The Minister for Social Affairs and Employment, Jette Klijnsma, says clients of the bankrupt DSB Bank acutely short of money can appeal for help from their local councils. The councils can, in extreme cases of need, provide assistance in the form of social security.

Ms Klijnsma added that DSB savers should first, however, take responsibility for finding a solution on their own. They could, for example, open an account with another bank or borrow money from friends or relatives. If that doesn't work, then their local council should judge whether or not they are in a position of acute financial need and that social security assistance is required.
