Saturday 26 May RNW - NEWS AND ANALYSIS FROM THE NETHERLANDS IN 10 LANGUAGES, WORLDWIDE 24/7 ON RADIO, TV AND ONLINE
Anonymous 8 October 2009 - 7:09pm
Yes. There is a difference between "discrimination" and having "discriminating taste". All of us choose who we will hang out with or not and it can either be discrimination or a choice of what friends share our common values and interests. I admit it is a fine line but in our free society we must give individuals the right to associate with whom they wish and to the same extent whom they will employ. But we must also ensure that people do not do it solely on discrimination grounds. We can't "throw the baby out with the bath water" by denying inidividuals and institutions the right to having "discriminating tastes".
