Saturday 26 May RNW - NEWS AND ANALYSIS FROM THE NETHERLANDS IN 10 LANGUAGES, WORLDWIDE 24/7 ON RADIO, TV AND ONLINE
Hiram 16 September 2009 - 3:20pm
"On Thursday, EU Agriculture Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel will present plans to the European parliament aimed at tackling the problems in the dairy sector.".......Europe and the world at large need dairy farmers and farmers who produce the food we all need; therefore, farmers need to be protected from going under. Farmers go under because the resources they need cost more than the profits they need to survive. Dairy farmers can't continue to produce milk if cost of production exceeds their profits. They are being being force out of business in order for the government to take over the farms. The government already tells farmers what the prices will be but declines to tell oil companies what prices can be charged. If fuel prices rise, the farmers have to adjust their prices to survive.
