The problem is not lack of wells. The problem is that so many, hundreds of thousands, have been dug without any forethought. The natural aquifers have been completely drained. When the rain stops, the aquifers don't refill. No water from the sky, none from the ground. Then Turkey dams the bejesus out of the Euphrates. The drought has brought it all together. Who knows what will happen?
