Saturday 26 May RNW - NEWS AND ANALYSIS FROM THE NETHERLANDS IN 10 LANGUAGES, WORLDWIDE 24/7 ON RADIO, TV AND ONLINE
nikokons 11 June 2009 - 7:35pm
I want to make just a small comment about the healthcare system of the netherlands. I work at a hospital myself as guest for the past 3 years. Even if research is really advanced, common practise is rather poor. The amount of exams that are given to patients or better NOT given to patients because of "cost-efficiency" is amazing. I have worked in greece, germany and even in poland were paying a 30% less than what a dutch person pays into a private health insurer (they are private here also) the variety of services you receive is much better having also a basic insurance scheme from the state. So overall, i would not say the dutch model for healthcare is of any good for normal practise.
