The Public Prosecutor’s Office suspects that a man from the Zeeland town of Westkapelle may have abused many more teenage boys than previously thought.

The 60-year-old suspect was arrested in September following two police reports. He told the police he had sexually abused at least 100 boys in the past 30 years.

As no new reports have been filed, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the regional health authorities have decided to open a hotline where victims can anonymously tell their stories.

The suspect, who has a prior conviction for sexual abuse from several decades ago, is currently being held at a psychiatric hospital for examination.
