Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss a few weeks of action after sustaining a calf muscle injury on Saturday in a league match between his club, Hamburg HSV, and Hannover 96.
“Bad news: 4-6 weeks out. Hope to be back in the last game of the league on 14th May,” wrote Van Nistelrooy on his twitter account.
Saturday’s Hamburg-Hannover 96 match resulted in a 0-0 draw. The game was a case of double disappointment for coach Michael Oenning, as Hamburg needed to come away from this match with all three points in order to keep pace with Mainz 05 and Nürnberg for the final Europa League place in the next football season. Hamburg is now in 7th place.
