Utrecht to set up shelter for homeless aliens

Published on 15 December 2011 - 3:40pm
More about:

The city of Utrecht in the centre of the Netherlands has announced that next year it will set up emergency shelters for the most desperate cases among homeless people of foreign descent and undocumented aliens.

The council is particularly concerned about families with young children and people with serious medical or legal problems.

Last week it emerged that a growing group of desperate homeless people are camping out in various locations in and around the city. Most of them are reportedly from central and eastern Europe. How many they are and where exactly they set up camp is not clear.
