The rock opera The Fall and Rise of Herman Brood had its opening night in the Texas city of Houston at the weekend.
The production, which centres on the life and work of the late Dutch rock musician Herman Brood, was written by Black Francis, frontman of the alternative rock band The Pixies. In the opera, Francis - played by singer Michael Haaga - contemplates the life and work of Herman Brood - played by singer Matthew Kelly. The opera features music by both Herman Brood and Black Francis.
The opera will be performed in Houston until the end of this year. Afterward, The Fall and Rise of Herman Brood is to tour the United States.
