The number of foreigners coming to work in the Netherlands is likely to increase considerably, according to research conducted by job agency ABU which hires foreign personnel.
There are presently about 200,000 immigrant workers in the Netherlands. It is expected that figure will rise to 300,000 by 2015.
Seventy-nine percent of foreign workers comes from Poland compared to 91 percent in 2010. There has been a substantial increase in the number of Czechs, Slovaks and Latvians who come to the Netherlands for work.
ABU said very few Greeks or Spanish apply for work despite the high unemployment rate in their own countries.
On average, recent foreign workers stayed some 14 months in the Netherlands, compared with nine months in 2010. ABU, which supplies some 48,000 workers, has called for more temporary accommodation for the immigrants.
The temp agency says the demand for foreign workers in the metal and food industries is set to grow.
