Very strong cannabis with more than 15 percent THC, the active substance in the drug, should be categorised as a hard drug. That’s the conclusion of the Garretsen Committee in a report to be presented to the Dutch government on Friday, reports commercial television broadcaster RTL Nieuws.
The committee, set up by the previous cabinet, will present its findings to Health Minister Edith Schippers and Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten. The committee is headed by Professor Garretsen of Tilburg University.
The report is believed to state that some kinds of cannabis contain so much THC, that they should be in the same category as heroin or cocaine.
