At least 11 people were wounded when shots were fired into a crowd of anti-US demonstrators trying to march on the centre of the capital Kabul Wednesday, an official said.

"All are suffering from bullet wounds and were injured during the protests," a health ministry official told AFP on condition of anonymity. "Two of them are in critical condition."
