RNW receives suspect letter

Published on 10 May 2011 - 3:08pm
More about:

On Tuesday, a suspect letter posted in Algeria was among the mail received by Radio Netherlands Worldwide. The letter and the powder it contained were taken away by the police for investigation.

RNW's broadcasts are in ten languages, including Arabic, and can be received in Algeria. RNW General Director Jan Hoek said, “We provide uncensored international information to countries which have limited press freedom.”

“At the moment, there’s no reason to believe this letter has anything to do with last week’s cyber attack. We’re not going to speculate, but will keep to the facts.”
