The Rabobank headquarters in Utrecht was not set on fire by the Greek terrorist group Conspiracy Cells of Fire. The Dutch domestic intelligence service AIVD says the claim which appeared on the indymedia.nl website on Wednesday was a fake.
The AIVD says there is no evidence of any Dutch branch of the "cells".
The message signed "Conspiracy Cells of Fire, the Dutch Cell" claimed responsibility for three out of four arson attacks on the new Rabobank HQ last year and for a cyberattack on the bank. The AIVD says the statement was a cut-and-paste job.
Last year the Greek organisation claimed responsibility for letter bombs sent to various European embassies.
