Queen Beatrix opens ‘Máxima’ exhibition

Published on 7 May 2011 - 10:04pm
More about:

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was at Het Loo Palace on Saturday to open an exhibition about her daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Máxima, who was also present. The show looks back on the ten years that the princess has been living in the Netherlands.

Princess Máxima, who is Argentinian by birth, is currently the most popular member of the royal family. Photos and film footage in the exhibition show the princess fulfilling her royal duties and doing various charity work. She has lent 20 outfits for the show, including the Valentino creation she wore at her wedding and a leather dress with high boots she sported at last year’s Edison Pop Prizes.

She was informed about the exhibition while it was being organised and it is said that she was worried it might appear ostentatious. However, the organisers say that in the end she thought it was a nice idea. Her husband, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, was not at Het Loo Palace for the opening of the exhibition. He is in Greenland on a short visit.
