For the second time this season a highly-anticipated game between PSV and Ajax has ended in a goalless draw. PSV now lead the Premier League with 54 points, five points ahead of Ajax. Both squads are still facing nine matches.
Feyenoord, playing at home in an almost flooded stadium, routed FC Groningen 5-1, mostly thanks to four strikes by Georginio Wijnaldum, with captain Ron Vlaar scoring the fifth goal for the Rotterdam squad. Nicklas Pedersen netted FC Groningen's single goal, continuing their disappointing run with just one point out of their last three duels.
FC Twente suffered a 2-1 away defeat against AZ, with Erik Falkenburg netting the deciding goal in injury time. Brazilian centre-back Douglas, who had been sent off during the home game against AZ, was shown red again, on 42 minutes. On 70 minutes AZ's Nick Viergever also earned a red card. On 56 minutes referee Ruud Bossen suspended the match for close to fifteen minutes due to insulting remarks from the crowd.
NEC, drawing 1-1 against FC Utrecht, managed to notch up its eleventh draw of the season.
