The Polish embassy in the Netherlands has expressed gratitude for the support it has received for its criticism of a website launched by the populist Freedom Party (PVV).
On the site, people are asked to “tell their stories” about trouble caused by East European migrants to the Netherlands.
On its website, the embassy expresses gratitude for “all the expressions of support for our indignation over the reprehensible PVV initiative to launch a website which encourages people to submit complaints regarding citizens from central and eastern Europe.”
On Monday, the PZZ (the organisation of Polish trade unions in the Netherlands) launched its own campaign against the PVV site. Visitors to the PZZ site can sign a petition against the PVV’s “discriminatory” initiative.
The Polish unions say the PVV website serves one purpose only: to create a climate of distrust. “The fact that the website concerns only a specific group of people proves that it’s intended to single out and therefore discriminate against immigrants from central and eastern Europe.”
