Police seize Olympic rings after prank

The Olympic rings which disappeared from Amsterdam’s historic 1928 stadium shortly before the New Year have been impounded by police in Friesland in the northern Netherlands.

A local ‘New Year’s club’ based in the village of Oldeberkoop had stolen the stadium’s famous ornaments as a New Year’s prank. However, the Public Prosecutor’s office appears not to see the funny side of the incident and has ordered that the rings be returned to the capital.
