The Dutch national football team retain their second position in the first 2012 edition of FIFA’s world ranking list. Spain remain in first place – the same as a month ago – with 1,564 points. The ranking by soccer’s international governing body gives Holland 1,365 points, 20 ahead of Germany in third place with 1,345.
The lack of change at the top comes as no real surprise, as hardly any international fixtures have been played in recent weeks. Of the top 10 teams in the ranking, seven are European. The other three are all from South America, with Uruguay taking 4th place just ahead of England in 5th and Brazil 6th.
Holland play their opening match of the Euro 2012 competition this summer against the team currently ranked 11th by FIFA: Denmark.
