Over one million cars will be driving on Dutch roads in 2012. The figure, released by automotive trade association BOVAG Friday, reflects an increase of 500,000 new vehicles.
This year, Dutch drivers purchased 550,000 new cars. Although expectations for 2012 are lower, BOVAG says it is still higher than the annual average of 490,000 cars.
The optimistic outlook reflects an energised automotive market that has grown since the start of 2011. However, BOVAG remains cautious about 2012 predictions given current economic uncertainty.

I hope that of all the 500000 cars that will be joining the roads in 2012, a significant portion of them could be electric cars. It will be a good signal to auto-makers that the Dutch are keen on helping the environment, and create a demand that will translate into more efforts in producing better electric vehicles.
Sorry, what precisely is "optimistic" about the prospect of having even more cars on the roads?
