President Obama has nominated Washington DC lawyer Tim Broas as the new US ambassador in The Hague.
Broas has been one of Obama's main fund raisers, collecting up to half a million dollars for the 2012 presidential election campaign.
The appointment of Broas to the ambassadorial post in the Netherlands is subject to Senate approval.
As a lawyer, Broas concentrated on white-collar criminal defence, securities litigation, corporate internal investigations and congressional investigations.
