The Eurosonic Noorderslag music festival attracted 33,000 visitors this year; exactly as many as last year, say organisers.
Saturday night saw the end of the 26th edition of the annual pop festival. Nearly 300 European groups performed over the course of four days in the northern town of Groningen.
The festival awarded several prizes, including the EBBA Public Choice Award, which went to Selah Sue, and the Pop Prize, which was picked up by De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig (The Youth of Today).
The festival was available via radio, television and internet across Europe. For the second time running, the festival’s Eurosonic Air stage was open to the public.
Figures released on Saturday showed that Dutch music exports in 2010 were 25 percent higher than the preceding year. The figures for 2011 have yet to be announced.
