Nine Dutch missing in India floods

Published on 10 August 2010 - 12:57pm
More about:

The Dutch Foreign Ministry is trying to trace nine Dutch citizens who are assumed to be in the Indian Himalaya flood zone. The region of Ladakh was hit by flash floods on Friday, killing at least 165 people. Hundreds of people are missing. The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall.

The Dutch authorities were unable to contact the five men and four women. A head count held in the capital Leh on Monday found that 50 other Dutch tourists and expats were coping well with the problems caused by the floods and landslides.
