NATO's Dutch HQ stays in Brunssum

Published on 8 June 2011 - 11:40pm
More about:

The NATO headquarters in the Dutch town of Brunssum will not be scrapped.

Employment at Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum will even increase from more than 600 to 850 jobs. The NATO defence ministers took the decision during a meeting in Brussels on trimming down the military alliance.

A spokesperson for Defence Minister Hans Hillen said the minister was very pleased with the outcome. Earlier, insiders predicted Brunssum would fall victim to NATO’s economy drive.
