Mladic discusses legal assistance

Published on 15 June 2011 - 8:02pm
More about:

Ratko Mladic, who is suspected of war crimes and genocide during the Bosnian War in the 1990s, has had several meetings with court registry officials of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia in The Hague on the matter of legal assistance. The former Bosnian-Serb general has not yet chosen a lawyer.

During his first appearance in court on 3 June, Mladic was assisted by Serb lawyer Aleksandar Aleksic. Mladic complained at the time that he hardly knew the man.

His next appearance in court is scheduled for Monday 4 July, when he will plea either guilty or not guilty to the charges. He may opt to defend himself in court.
