Lawyers say Julio Poch certain of release

Published on 26 January 2011 - 10:13am
More about:

Lawyers representing the Dutch-Argentinian pilot Julio Poch say they are convinced he will be released. Witness examinations in the Netherlands allow for “no other possible conclusion”, the Dutch and Argentinian lawyers Geert Jan Knoops and Gerardo Ibanez said on Dutch TV.

Twelve witnesses have been formally questioned in the Netherlands over the past two weeks. They include four of Mr Poch’s former colleagues at Dutch airline Transavia who previously said they had heard him say “we threw them in the sea”. During questioning they admitted it had been purely their own interpretation that Mr Poch was referring to his own personal involvement.

The defence lawyers also say the investigation has confirmed that Mr Poch could not have piloted the planes thought to have carried out the ‘death flights’.
