Karadzic writes to Dutch foreign minister

Published on 14 June 2012 - 10:55pm
More about:

Radovan Karadzic requested help from Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Uri Rosenthal on Thursday.

The former Bosnian Serb political and military leader sent a letter requesting the minister to arrange a meeting between Karadzic's main legal adviser and Thom Karremans, the commander of Dutchbat in Srebrenica.

According to the letter, which was seen by the ANP, Karadzic thinks Karremans has information that could be useful for his defense. Karadzic hopes to show that the Muslims at Srebrenica were "evacuated at their own request" and not deported, as the prosecutors of the ICTY claim.
