A Dutch crime reporter, John van den Heuvel, has interviewed Joran van der Sloot at the infamous high security Miguel Castro Castro prison in the Peruvian capital Lima.
Joran van der Sloot is awaiting trial for the murder of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores in May. The body of Ms Flores was found in the suspect's hotel room in Lima. Joran van der Sloot was arrested after police tracked him down in Chile.
Joran van der Sloot met Ms Flores, the daugther of Peruvian racing driver and businessman Ricardo Flores, at a casino. Mr van der Sloot was caught on film leaving the hotel room alone. A couple of days later, the beaten body of the woman was found. An attempt by the suspect to withdraw his confession of the murder has been rejected by the judge on the case. The murder took place on the fifth anniversary of US teenager Natalee Holloway's disappearance.
Mr van der Sloot became notorious following the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on the Dutch island of Aruba in 2005. He is still the main suspect in the case. Another crime reporter Peter R. de Vries secretly filmed Mr van der Sloot describing how Ms Holloway had died on the beach and how he had dumped her body in the sea. In spite of the alleged confession, the Aruban police have been unable to prosecute their prime suspect.
Mr van den Heuvel has also interviewed the murder suspect's mother, who says she will not visit her son if he is convicted. The programme "Joran speaks" will be broadcast by RTL television on Monday. The television station is not giving any details on the interview.

Rachel M/Mary S, etc. we admire your perseverance sticking up for Joran until we remember that your true sentiments are not pro-Joran but pro-jokester. The club is starting up again in two weeks and we hope, despite a little ridicule that you deserve, that you will show up to regale us with more stories.
To other readers who post seriously: Joran is probably more relaxed than ever as he begins to understand and accept that he cannot escape justice, whether it be at the hands of the law or by the hands of a crazed lunatic who will stalk him on the streets if he is released. I still have empathy for his mother -- it seems his middle brother -- now the male titular head of the family unit, has talked sense into his mother to give up on Joran, a tough decision for any mother. It sounds like his brother knows Joran better than any of us.
Marie, nice to see you are still posting.
Diddo on your posts. I was wondering where you went off to!
Just tried to watch it, but getthing the following message:
"We are sorry to inform you that due to rights restrictions, this material is not available in the United States"
Nice going RTL... what restrictions? You own the material!
I wonder if he did dump her body in the ocean, if there is any truth to the story about his shoes.
The thing about dumping a body in the ocean: there was no record of any boats going out from the island that night. And if he just threw a body in the ocean from the beach, it would wash up on the beach. Note the case of William Trickett Smith, also in Castro Castro, the Pennsylvania drug dealer who is accused of dumping his wife's body, in a suitcase and weighted down, from a boat at sea - it still washed up on the beach. Also remember the Laci Peterson case: the bodies of Laci and her unborn son both washed up on the beach, months after Laci's disappearance. It's not that easy to dispose of a body in the ocean.
What was that about the shoes??
