Former US president Jimmy Carter has been taken into hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. US television news station CNN reported that the 85-year-old became ill during a flight to Cleveland.

The 39th president of the US was travelling to Cleveland for a book signing session of his latest publication White House Diary. It is his 26th book. Jimmy Carter was president of the United States from 1977 until 1981.
