Judges from the International Criminal Court in The Hague announced their decision on Monday to issue an arrest warrant for Moammar Gaddafi. The Libyan leader, one of his sons and his intelligence chief face charges of crimes against humanity.
Gaddafi and his regime are accused of firing on civilian demonstrators, shelling funerals and using snipers on unarmed individuals during the early days of rebel fighting in Libya.
The decision to arrest the trio is risky, Professor of International Criminal Law Geert-Jan Knoops told Dutch news radio, BNR. According to him, there has not been enough time to accurately prepare the indictment.
Gaddafi, his son Seif al-Islam Gaddafi and Abdullah al-Sanoussi are now internationally wanted criminals. However, the ICC has no police force of its own to carry out the arrests.

MORGTAR, winners don't prosecute themselves. You have a good point but that isn't how it works. Quick point of reference: During the war of Northern Aggression (American Civil War-1861 to 1865), the North put on trial and hung the confederate officer who ran Andersonville prison for the deaths of Northern prisoners; but, they did not put on trial and hang the commander of Point Lookout, a yankee prison in Maryland, for the same type of crimes. Winners don't put their leaders on trial for war crimes.
They don't control the oil fields like Libya. Oil is the only reason for the warrants. Has the court issed warrants for the leaders of Syria, Iran, Korea, etc.? No! I wonder why? If it isn't for oil, then it must be to protect the citizens of Libya. No, that can't be, so. Otherwise, the French and British would be in Syria defending those humans. It appears that oil is the root of all evil. I wonder why Europeans are not protesting? Do you think it just might be called "apathy"?
Team of British observers say NATO and Western Media are lying on Libya

British observers verify that there is no reason to attack Tripoli
British activists have verified the consequences of NATO attacks against civilians in Libya. A spokesman for British Civilians for Peace in Libya commented on the consequences of NATO attacks on the civilian population of Libya. The British mission in Libya is there to verify the consequences of NATO attacks against civilians.

The consequences of the attacks perpetrated by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) against civilian targets in Libya were evaluated by members of the British citizens' group called British Civilians for Peace in Libya, along with activists from France, Germany, Tunisia and Italy, who traveled to the African country to investigate the situation.
The activists found no evidence of the Libyan army shelling civilians, but did observe the impact of NATO bombs, and Dale Roberts, a spokesman of the second British mission in Libya, confirmed this to teleSUR.
During the interview from Libya, Roberts added that the two opportunities he has visited the nation during the conflict "I have seen and witnessed the effects of bombing on civilians. This has included schools, hospitals, infrastructure and civilian areas. Not only the NATO bombings of the troops are a threat, but to unarmed civilians," he reiterated.
The representative of the British observer group expressed that during the eight-day mission they have been trying to record all images as evidence, even when NATO bombs threaten to halt their journey.
After his experience, Dale Roberts said that the media in Britain, other European countries and the United States "are not telling the truth."
He added that the real reason for this manipulation of the media is because people would immediately reject this conflict. "European public opinion is against a war that was not debated in Parliament, even in my country, Great Britain, they are against the war because it was decided quickly without any reference of the Parliament," Roberts specified.
He explained that during the first visit they discovered that the reasons that were used to justify the invasion of Libya are false. "One of the main reasons why the United Nations (UNO) adopted resolution 1973 is that Libya was being blamed and made responsible for attacks on unarmed civilians. They are false."
"We visited the areas in Tripoli which were cited in the United Nations resolution, and it is clear that these areas were not attacked. It's another war that the Western countries are making against a developing country," the Briton denounced.
This Thursday, about 12 powerful explosions shook the capital of Libya in another wave of heavy bombing by NATO, damaging even a Coptic Church while at the same time in Benghazi, an attack raised concerns in the terrorist rebel command center.
Witnesses confirmed to international media that NATO planes flew over parts of central Tripoli and soon after six explosions were heard around 22:35 GMT, to which other explosions followed in the early morning.
NATO repeatedly makes attacks against living facilities where they presume Libyan leader Muammar Al Gaddafi resides, at the Bab Al-Aziziyah complex.
These new bombings followed the same pattern of those that took place during the night and the early mornings of Monday and Tuesday, against the Tripoli suburb of Tajura, and the southern town of Al-Jafra, killing an unknown number of human victims and causing property damage.
Legal background to NATO war crimes
24.06.2011
NATO is committing war crimes in Libya. The rules of engagement are bound by the UN Security Council Resolutions 1970 and 1973 (2011) in which there is no mention of taking out Colonel Gaddafi, his aides or his children or grandchildren. NATO was supposed to police a no-fly zone and explain any misgivings to the international community.
The People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation asked the countries proposing the above-mentioned Resolutions to explain the details of the "measures" inherent in the agreements. No explanations were given, making the basis for the Resolutions void.
No rules of engagement allow for the purposeful targeting of Libyan officials, therefore the murder of Colonel Gaddafi's grandchildren and the recent strikes on civilian targets in Tripoli amount to war crimes. The author of this piece has already pressed war crimes charges against David Cameron and Barack Obama in the nearest police stations to their places of work according to the rules for bringing war crimes charges currently in operation in the international community. Nothing has yet been forthcoming, meaning that the justice systems of the United Kingdom and the United States of America are placed in question.
The international community is bound to abide by the rules of international law. International law is ruled by the UN Charter and Resolutions from the UNSC. NATO has acted outside these rules, and therefore Barack Obama, David Cameron, Nicolas Sarkozy and the other NATO warmonger leaders are guilty of war crimes.
Is the international community going to sit back and do nothing?
Probably, yes. But then there are consequences...
