More about:

Award-winning Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden has been named chief conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

He will take over the post in September at the start of the new season and succeeds his compatriot Edo de Waart.

In November, Mr Van Zweden stepped down from his position as chief conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra after having been associated with them for seven years. Among his current posts is that of music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the United States.
