Holloway suspect planned escape to Chile

Published on 21 December 2010 - 12:46pm
More about:

Joran van der Sloot, the Dutchman accused of killing Peruvian student Stephany Flores, appears to have begun planning his escape to Chile immediately after the murder took place.

A TV programme in Peru recently quoted a police dossier on Joran van der Sloot as stating that the Dutchman specifically searched for countries which had no extradition treaty with Peru. As it turned out, he was arrested by Chilean police in June this year and handed over to Peru, although the two countries have no extradition treaty.

Accused and suspect
Joran van der Sloot initially confessed to killing Ms Flores in his Lima hotel room, apparently because she had discovered incriminating information on his computer, linking him with the disappearance of US teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2005. He is the main suspect in that case too but has not been charged due to a lack of credible evidence. The Peru murder occurred exactly five years after Ms Holloway's disappearance.

Sources in Peru say Joran van der Sloot has retracted his confession to the Stephany Flores murder, and has also complained that Peruvian police confiscated his laptop without being authorised to do so. He is currently being held in Lima’s Castro Castro prison.

Lock him up and throw the keys away and never think about him ever again!

This doesn't prove anything, even if it's true (that the police found his search history). He had been set up - that's a possibility - and wanted to leave Peru to a country where he wouldn't be sent back for a murder he didn't commit, knowing how corrupt Peru is.

Hope you had a great Christmas! :-)
