The success of the Museum Night in Amsterdam and Rotterdam has inspired The Hague to organise a similar after hours event.
On 4 September more than 20 participating organisations, including museums, galleries, the Royal Library, the Dutch House of Commons and the Pulchri and Stroom art centres will do their utmost to offer their visitors a unique artistic mix, including:
Last Supper
How does it feel to take part in the Last Supper? Mexican artist Raul Ortega Ayala will offer twelve chosen ones an opportunity to eat what Jesus and his disciples ate during the Last Supper. At art centre Stroom (Current) Ayala will try to reproduce the last meal of Jesus and his disciples as a work of art. The supper will be videotaped. An edited version of the video together with the remains of the supper will form part of the exhibition Living Remains which will be on display at Stroom from 11 September until 7 November.
Waylon
Popular singer Waylon, under contract at the Motown label, will start off his new tour Nothing to Lose during the Hague Museum Night. The soul singer will give an intimate mini concert at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (Hague Municipal Museum). Waylon will sing a number of songs standing under Piet Mondriaan’s painting Victory Boogie Woogie. Only 25 people will be able to attend the concert. Tickets can be won at the Museum Night website or on the show presented by DJ Giel Beelen on the 3FM radio station.
