Dutch tennis star Robin Haase made a convincing advance to the second round of the US Open on Wednesday, taking just half an hour to beat Portugal’s Rui Machado in three sets: 6-0, 6-4, 6-4.
“It was pretty simple. I hit sure at the beginning and he made some mistakes. I cruised right through,” Haase said.
The second round may be less of a breeze for the 24-year-old as he faces Scotland’s Andy Murray. “That’s obviously a competitive match. He’s in good shape, but I can certainly make it difficult,” he said.
