"Geert Wilders is no friend of the US". This comment from leaked US embassy cables printed in July 2009 is reported in British daily The Guardian. The newspaper is one of several partners of WikiLeaks which vet its output.
US diplomats informing President Barack Obama on Dutch politics point out that the anti-Islam Freedom Party was the fastest growing party in the Netherlands.
The remark that Mr Wilders was "no friend of the US" was due to the party's opposition to an extension of the Dutch mission in Afghanistan and because Mr Wilders "foments fear and hate of immigrants".
The diplomats refer to "The Wilders Factor: golden-pompadoured, maverick parliamentarian Geert Wilders whose anti-Islam, nationalist Freedom Party remains a thorn in the coalition's side, capitalizing on the social stresses resulting from the failure to fully integrate almost a million Dutch Muslims".
Former Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende also is also named in the documents. Initially he is seen as a "Harry Potter" look-alike", however, the cables go on to say "he has consistently and skillfully delivered cabinet support for US policy objectives while balancing fragile parliamentary majorities.
The document states that Mr Balkenende's fourth and last coalition was held together more by "fear of early elections than by unity of vision" and that the prime minister hoped to benefit from President Obama's popularity.

I suppose that depends on whether you are a citizen of the US or the president. Or a muslim.
Our country was founded on Judeo/Christian principles and we are not going to change that, no matter that this offends muslims.
We are adamant: the citizens do NOT want Sharia law and will never stand for it!
It was Mr. Wilders who brought the whole problem of stealth jihad to my attention since I live in a part of the country where there are few Muslims, but now that I am awake I AM WIDE AWAKE and I have Geert Wilders to thank for that.
Yes indeed, Mr. Wilders may prove to be the best friend the US ever had! How many people would still be asleep at the wheel while our children are being taught a whitewashed, sanitised version of Islam and CAIR is pressuring colleges to fire teachers who teach the REAL HISTORY of Imperialist Islam? CAIR will litigate at the drop of a hat, but I am telling you, I am going to continue celebrating Christmas and I don't care how many Muslims are offended by it!
Everything about Islam is an offense to me! I think my rights as a native-born American extend to my being permitted to celebrate whatever holiday I want.
But I am telling you: islamists better adapt or get the hell out, because the American people ARE NOT HAVING IT.

Leave it to the Obama Administration to think that expressing concern over the failure Muslims to integrate into a society makes one "not a friend of the United States". What can you expect from a President who is more concerned about schmoozing the King of Saudi Arabia than he is about his own people and who has transformed NASA into a Muslim outreach organization? Obama hates whites and western society, even though we made him what he is. Geert Wilders is a better friend of the United States than Barry O will ever be.
