A former priest has been sentenced to 10 months in jail and mandatory psychiatric treatment for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy in a campground shower in France.
The priest worked in Zoetermeer in the 1980s. In 1990 he was convicted of sexually abusing underage boys but, even after his conviction, was able to find work as a priest in Amersfoort, where he abused more minors.
As of 2010, the man was no longer allowed to serve as a priest. Cardinal Simonis, who served as archbishop between 1983 and 2007, refused to defrock the priest.
