Firework sales could be up on 2010

Published on 31 December 2011 - 9:00pm
More about:

Despite the recession, the Dutch have not been economising on buying fireworks for the New Year’s celebrations.

The BPN fireworks association says the public have spent at least as much if not more on fireworks this time round compared with last New Year.

“It’s gone really well,” explains Leo Groeneveld from BPN, who was basing his forecast on sales figures from a number of major importers. “Sales via the internet were low, but the three days fireworks were on sale in the shops were fantastic. We’ll possibly reach the 66 or 67 million-euro mark.”
