After an eventful weekend in the Dutch premier league competition, FC Twente is in first place with 12 points, followed by Ajax with ten. AZ shares third place with PSV each with nine points. Feyenoord let points slip putting it in fourth position.

PSV beat Excelsior in Eindhoven 6-1, mainly thanks to Belgian player Dries Mertens who scored three times putting him on course for a club record. Ola Toivonen netted the ball twice. Jeremain Lens scored once. Mitchell te Vrede scored for the visitors from Rotterdam. The two teams were on level pegging until the break. But PSV scored three times in the first six minutes of the second half.

Feyenoord drew 2-2 against sc Heerenveen at home in Rotterdam. In a spetacular match, in which the Friesian team ended with nine players on the field. Ramon Zomer was sent off after being shown two yellow cards and substitute Doke Schmidt was also shown red. Nevertheless sc Heerenveen were ahead twice, firstly after a penalty by Bas Dost and later after a goal by Oussama Assaidi. But Feyenoord equalised with excellent goals from Leroy Fer and Jerson Cabral.

AZ won its third competition match 3-0 in an away game against FC Groningen. AZ scored in the first minute with a goal by Nick Viergever. They dominated much of the game but it wasn't until the final minutes of the game that substitute Johann Berg Gudmundsson put a definitive end to Groningen's hopes. Rasmus Elm scored the last goal with a free kick.

ADO The Hague won their first game of the season with a 3-0 victory over De Graafschap in Doetichem. Aleksandar Radoslavljevic scored at the beginning of the second half. Wesley Verhoek and Mike van Duinen slammed home ADO's victory with two goals in the final phase of the match.
