FC Twente have overtaken PSV at the top of the table after beating them 2-0 thanks to two goals by Theo Janssen.

With five more matches to go, Twente are now two points ahead of PSV. Ajax, on third spot, could reduce the gap with Twente to five points if they defeat Heracles Almelo on Sunday.

AZ remain in fourth position after beating Feyenoord 1-0. Replacement Charlison Benschop scored the goal by converting a penalty just before half-time.

During the last half hour of the game, Feyenoord played with one man less after Gill Swerts was shown red for charging Maarten Martens, who was carried off the field on a stretcher.

At the bottom of the table, Excelsior, who were 2-0 down against sc Heerenveen in the second half, managed to come back to win 3-2, with Nayib Lagouireh scoring the decisive goal in injury time.

With Willem II it was the other way around. Playing home against Roda JC, they began well, only to lose 4-5.

NAC Breda notched up a solid 3-1 victory over De Graafschap.
