The European Commission (EC) said on Thursday that the Netherlands should quickly incorporate European agreements on the purchase of defence equipment into its national legislation.
The Hague is violating the rules on defence procurement, says the EC, which is disadvantageous for the European market for weapons and arms manufacturers.
The EC requires that the Netherlands fulfills its obligations and comes up with a satisfactory answer within two months, otherwise the matter will be referred to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. Brussels also criticised Germany on the same subject.
