RKC Waalwijk have scored their sixth victory (4-0) of the season in Sunday’s home game against VVV-Venlo.
At half time the Waalwijk team was already two goals ahead thanks to Evander Sno (who scored from a penalty) and Frank van Mosselveld. Robert Braber gave RKC their fourth goal in the 80th minute and Rick ten Voorde scored the final goal in injury time. RKC now has 21 goals from 19 games, bringing it alongside VVV in a shared 13th position in the rankings.
FC Twente has also won its second match after the winter break. The Twente team beat their visitors from Groningen 4-1. It was also FC Twente’s second consecutive victory under their new coach Steve McClaren.
Luuk de Jong scored twice before half time, both times acting on passes from Ola John. Shortly after half time, Virgil van Dijk scored Groningen’s only goal followed by two more goals for FC Twente by Luuk de Jong and Leroy Fer. Its victory over the Groningen team means FC Twente is now back in the running for the championship.
Nijmegen club NEC has defeated ADO Den Haag 2-0. Two early goals by Lasse Schöne did not just give NEC a 2-0 victory over ADO but also allowed the Nijmegen team to move up in the rankings.
The victory, its second since the winter break - NEC beat Vitesse 1-0 last week - means NEC has overtaken its rival from The Hague and is now in 11th position.
