A 37-year old Dutchman arrested in the Netherlands in 2009 was the kingpin of an international paedophile network with more than 60,000 members, police said on Tuesday. The man, a resident of Krommenie (near Amsterdam), was the webmaster of an online forum where child porn was exchanged.
More details will be revealed at a press conference on Wednesday, Dutch media say. The police operation, co-ordinated by Europol, was directed against what was believed to be the world's largest network of paedophiles. The investigation into the online forum took more than three years. Hundreds of arrests were made in the US, Brazil, Australia and Europe. It is not clear whether the Krommenie man was the only Dutch citizen arrested.
