A Dutchman is said to be in critical condition after falling from the cliffs at Ghajn Tuffieha Bay on Malta on Saturday night.

Maltese media describe the Dutchman as a 31-year-old resident of the local village of Marsaskala. As yet it is not known what caused the fall.

A helicopter was deployed to rescue the man from the rocks where he landed. After being airlifted to safety, he was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
