Dutch told to head home early

Published on 3 December 2010 - 2:59pm
More about:

The Dutch Automobile Association (ANWB) is urging car drivers to head home from work as early as possible this Friday afternoon. The hope is that the congestion on the roads caused by the snow will be eased if fewer people are driving during the rush hour.

The National Weather Centre (KNMI) and government are warning of afternoon snow in the central Netherlands which could disrupt travel in the area including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Rush-hour traffic jams are expected to be longer than usual and motorists are being urged to keep abreast of the weather reports.
