Published on 30 July 2011 - 7:24pm
More about:

Dutch swimmer Inge Dekker has won the women’s 50 metre butterfly at the Shanghai World Swimming Championships with a time of 25:71.

It was Inge Dekker’s second world title this week and the seventh of her career, but only her first triumph in an individual event. Earlier this week, she was part of the relay team that won the gold medal in the women’s 4 x 100m freestyle.

Dekker’s teammate Sharon van Rouwendaal unexpectedly won the bronze medal in the 200m women’s breast stroke. She finished in 2:07.78 , 0.64 faster than the Dutch record she swam in the semi finals and 3.06 faster than her previous personal record.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Marleen Veldhuis have qualified for the 50m freestyle finals. Kromowidjojo swam the faster time - 24.56 - Veldhuis came in sixth at 24.88.
