After seven rounds, AZ is the new leader of the Eredivisie, the Dutch Premier League.

Playing at home, the Alkmaar club delivered Feyenoord its first defeat of the season. AZ was 1-0 down at half time, but recovered to score twice in the second half.

Amsterdam club Ajax and FC Twente Enschede drew 1-1 on Saturday evening. RKC Waalwijk won its fourth match of the season, beating NEC 2-0. De Graafschap squandered a 2-1 lead against FC Groningen in the final moments of the match, with Groningen scoring twice during injury time to win 3-2.
