Dutch premier league braves the cold

Published on 4 February 2012 - 11:52pm
More about:

In the Dutch Premier League, Vitesse beat NAC Breda 1-0 at home in Arnhem. The only goal of the match was scored by Nick Hofs in the 19th minute of the otherwise uneventful match.

Excelsior beat VVV Venlo 3-1 at home in Rotterdam. As a result the Limburg team has swapped last place in the league with the Rotterdammers.

Defender Bart Schenkeveld was man of the match scoring twice for Excelsior. Darren Maatsen consolidated the victory with a third goal. VVV Venlo’s Yanic Wildschut only managed to open scoring for the Limburgers just before time. VVV played most of the game with ten men after Bryan Linssen was sent off in the 38th minute.

The match between ADO The Hague and AZ was postponed after referee Kevin Blom decided conditions in the Kyocera Stadium were too dangerous because of the freezing weather.
