Dutch police round up drug gang

Dutch authorities have rounded up a drug gang based in the southern province of Limburg.

Following raids on ten addresses in the towns of Schinnen and Sittard and the provincial capital Maastricht - renowned for its "drug tourists" - police discovered an operational "drugs laboratory" and arrested six people, a spokesperson said on Thursday.

In Schinnen, two people were caught red-handed while producing synthetic drugs in the home laboratory. In Maastricht, the police seized large amounts of amphetamines, as well as other chemicals and a gun. Police in Belgium also discovered chemicals for synthetic drug production in a garage in Lanaken, a town in the Belgian province of Limburg. The drug gang peddle the drugs in the Netherlands and Germany. The police said they expect to make more arrests in connection with the drugs find.
